Next, big sunnies are a must. Looks a little glamorous and instantly gets the red outta your pretty peepers. Opt for frames that optimize your face shape.

Lastly, assemble pieces in the same colors to look pulled together.

Who doesn’t want to look a little longer and leaner? Try these tips to add some height and take off a few pounds.

•  Expose your slimmest bits like your wrists, collarbone, or ankles so eyes are drawn to your narrowest body parts.
• Show a little bit of leg. This creates visual elongation. The best hemline is at the knee or slightly above the knee.
• Think column. Dress in a mono-chromatic

Form. Function. Fashion.

Those F words. It’s how I approach wardrobe, hair, makeup, accessories with my clients.

First, Function.

Function is two-fold:

1. Wardrobe use
It makes no sense to fill my attorney client’s closet with loads of jeans and jersey knits. It makes just as much sense to outfit my maven entrepreneur client in a navy wool suit. Your lifestyle has wardrobe needs, be realistic about your purchases so each piece has a function in your daily life.

2. Wardrobe as it relates to Image
Your image is an important component of your brand (even in your social life). Pay careful attention and manage your brand with this in mind. You want your wardrobe to send a message that you are on top of your game and bring tremendous value to the table. Wardrobe consistency is key to creating a potent brand and ultimately will help you create success.

Next is Form.

Form is your unique shape or silhouette but it’s more than simply being pear or apple shaped, it’s also about what parts of your body are fuller or longer compare to other parts, your bone structure, hairstyle (yes, hairstyle), and where you tend to lose or gain weight. All of this impacts the way your apparel hangs on your body. For example, take a simple shirt armhole, ever consider that one which is cut high versus one that is cut low, can make you look slimmer?

Low cut arm holes can add bulk. Keep this in mind when being photographed!

Form also takes color, pattern, and texture into consideration. We all know that dark colors “recede” meaning it can make parts of your body appear narrower than others. Patterns and textures can have an amplifying effect when used strategically.

Lastly, there is Fashion.

By this I really mean your personal style. Once we’ve closely considered YOUR silhouette, YOUR lifestyle, YOUR brand, we then consider styles you are drawn to. You don’t have to purchase from each season of the runway to be viewed as captivatingly stylish. As a matter of fact, it’s a better thing to form your own sense of style based on what’s best for you and what moves you! It may be a classic style, one with an edge, or you may want some vintage sprinkled in the mix. Whatever it is, your wardrobe should speak to–and about–YOU and make you excited to open your closet each morning. Your personal style is an expression of your joy and experience of fashion.
